Best place to buy several albums in one go?

Hello, sorry if this is a stupid question, I have never downloaded music before
I would like to buy a few albums, nothing too obscure-a couple of eminem's albums, Lady Gaga, that sort of thing. I was wondering where is best value for money if you are buying a few albums please? All the sites I have seen are around £7.99 an album, is this about right please?
They are not new release albums, although I might treat myself to a new one if I can get the price low enough on the older ones. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks in advance

It all depends on what you want.
£7.99 per album is common for new/mainstream releases, but it's worth looking around.
Amazon.co.uk do a lot of older MP3 albums for less then that, often as little as £3. They are also doing a 10 tracks/£6 deal if you are looking to cherry pick a few tracks; single tracks are typically 79p/99p.
If you are looking at something a bit less mainstream, try emusic.com which specializes in independent artists and works out around 42p/track.
mflow.com have recently been doing promo vouchers for 20p/track and offering free download vouchers - check the forums here for those.0 -
Thank you, I was just reading through the sticky and someone mentioned subscriptions can work out cheaper-sorry, another daft question-who does subscriptions, what do they involve and do you have any recommendations please?0

emusic.com is a subscription site, but as I said it does feature mainly (but not completely) non-chart stuff. Subscriptions are (I believe) from around £5/month, no minimum period, and you get free downloads when you join. You can also buy top-ups if you choose. Usually works out around 42p/track.
Most of the other subscription sites I know offer a mix of unlimited streaming (i.e. you can listen through your PC as much as you like but not download) and some downloads but may not represent the best value if you purely want to download. An example of a subscription site would be Napster.
On a related note, depending on how you want to use your downloads you should be wary of iTunes. Great selection of tracks, but the download format does not work on all MP3 players (though, obviously it works fine with all iPods).0 -
