I am in debt to about 35000 estimated however that does not include to HMRC i have 3 years where i have not filled out a self assesment form and i also do not have all my receipts which i know is entirely my fault, however i know i will need an accountant to go through all the paperwork but how do i
afford an accountant when i am so much in debt.I also have a mortgage in my name only and maybe i would think about transferring it over to partner so that i can go bankrupt.Any advice is welcome please.
Kind Regards

Hi Alan and welcome
I suggest you get some advice from business debtline.
You don't actually need an accountant to work out how much profit you made or how much tax you have to pay or even to complete your tax returns. Whilst I agree they can often help advise on ensuring you claim all the reliefs you can so minimising your tax its still possible to do without.
Do you have an assessment from HMRC as to how much they have 'estimated' that you owe? Without having all your paperwork even an accountant is going to struggle to prove if the HMRC assessment is too high.
Regarding the property/mortgage don't just transfer it to your partner assuming you can then go bankrupt. If there is any equity in it the OR would still come after you for it. You really need some professional advice and this would be my starting point - http://www.bdl.org.uk/A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
