National Insurance Credits?

Hi
I'm a 22 year old mother of two and I'm currently unemployed(hubby works) but I am looking for part time work. My eldest is five, my youngest is 16 months.
I've been unemployeed since October last year and that job was just for 4 months. I've had two other jobs which only lasted a couple of weeks each and I wasn't earning enough to have NI and Tax deducted on any of my jobs.
I was speaking to my mother the other day about state pensions and she mentioned that I might not be getting my NI contributions paid for which would affect my entitlement to a full basic state pension. She mention something about NI credits but I'm not sure if I'm entitled to them or how I go about applying for them.
Can anyone give me a little advice about this?
Hubby earns just over £14k a year and we're claiming Housing Benefit, Child Benefit, Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit.
Thanks in advance guys,
Stacey

Credits should be automatically applied if you are receiving child benefit for a child under 12.

Your target is 30 years of contributions before you reach State Pension age. Time is on your side.Free the dunston one next time too.0

Note the Child Benefit claim needs to be in your name not your hubbies in order for you to get the credits.0
