AIP: effect on credit files

Hi All,
Does anyone know if getting a few AIP from HSBC is affecting our credit history? We had a few from HSBC (another long story where EA insisted that we need to show our AIP and we didn’t want them to know the maximum amount we can afford, so we ended up getting a few AIP at different lower values).
We weren’t told about it when we got our later AIP but when I pop into another branch yesterday, I was asked by a representative why we got so many since it’s affecting our credit history. So that has made us very worried.
The worse thing is now we are thinking to get mortgage from Santander and if HSBC AIP have messed up our credit files, there is a chance that we could be refused by Santander.
Any suggestion please!!!
Thank you.

How many is a few?
What loan to value are you looking at?
Do you have a good credit history?

We have 5 since December 2010. We're look at 90% LTV and only one of us on the voters roll.
We both had debts in the past but all have been paid off a year ago. And we didn't have any late payment in last 3 years. So we'd like to think our credit history are ok.0 -
Lenders can look back 6 years, as that is what is listed on your credit file.
So if you have had previous problems it can cause issues, especially at 90% - you have to be squeaky clean.
You should be ok, it may lower you score with a lender, and therefore mortgage amount offered but if affordability is not an issue you should be ok.
You may want to get a broker involved to make sure you do not "waste" any more credit searches and harm your application.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
