WorldVentures - Scam or Not?

Dear All,
New to the board so go easy on me please :O)
I have a friend who has become interested in joining 'WorldVentures' and has approached me about signing up.
Now I have quite a sceptical outlook and as such I thought I would do a bit of research if only for their benefit as I don't feel it’s for me.
Has anyone come across this company before and has anyone anything good or bad to say about them... Seems like a Pyramid scheme to me and any reference on the internet I have found has either been that is it a scam or hyped advertisement by people associated with the company.

Really would like your input guys.WorldVentures is a lifestyle company that markets travel-related products. Combining the power of the internet with the time-tested strength of word-of-mouth marketing, WorldVentures is an emerging leader in the leisure travel industry.

This looks like a typical "network marketing" scheme to me.
Basically, you are encouraged to buy the product for yourself, and then set up a "business" promoting it to your friends, colleagues, online contacts and everyone you ever come into contact with to both sell them the product and recruit them into the business as part of your "team".
You're highly unlikely to make any money and will probably lose friends and alienate people when you end up desperately spamming them to recoup your initial investment.Blogger, Journalist and Author writing about scams and online ripoffs0 -
