See, where do they get their data from? Because that's the same as HOUSEHOLD income in South Cambridgeshire and it is affluent here.

    http://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/business/research/economylab/labour/houseincome.htm

How can anyone tell which is right and how much people do actually earn? Maybe the arguments over averages are all pointless because none of the figures are even right.

The Office of National Statistic, are where an MP would go now and is a continuation of the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys so it’s the best we can do.

I realise that but Percy seems to blame it all on the boomers.

Sorry if it seemed that way, I only blame them for 7% for the mess.

i'm not saying that there are no stay at home mums (or dads)

however if only one partner is out working and on only £26k then imo the other partner should also be out working

ok there may be say 2-3 years that this is difficult (until kids start pre-school / school) but this is only 2-3 years

If people aren't going to have kids (in your scenario the second income earner would be working just to pay for childcare) then where will the younger generation come from that you are hoping are going to pay for your [STRIKE]overpriced[/STRIKE] house/pension?

It’s no good blaming anyone what about all those people who bought in the mid 90s probably in 40s now. 1997 Average full time male wage £21k average house price £60k.

Looks like I was born 25 years to early and you 10 to late. I won't say 10 to late for me as that would be in the middle of the war.

Success with money has become intimately connected with inflation – people have got rich not through productive, wealth-creating activity, but because they bought a house or stock at a time when general asset prices were rising. We have confused talent with being bullish.

Errmmm, haven't I said my deposit is coming along nicely and I have worked hard to get a good income, yep you got me I am doing nothing about it and just sitting here complaining.

I don't think I have said it in this thread, but houses around me are priced just fine and it is one of the reasons I am going straight to a bigger house. (i will add most fo the houses I am looking at are £120k+) I am happy to pay the current rate but wouldn't be too worried if prices dropped a little.

Of course because I am doing well for myself and housing is within reach for me I have no right to argue the point for many young people up and down the country who are struggling...

As I keep saying my situation is just fine and the points I argue aren't based on my personal situation but the wrongness I can see around me.

I wonder if our resident bear population understood a word of that?

And if so, whether they can come up with a concise rebuttal, or will just choose to ignore it completely....

Oh Spamish. You do make me laugh.
I trust that most regular forumites will see the hilarious irony in your assertion.

Though to be fair, you have on occasion not chosen to ignore obvious inconvenient truths, and instead state that you've chosen not to respond because you're such a sensitive flower.... :T:T:T

    Which is convenient.

You haven't mentioned that before? ;)

    Yep.

It seems I've also got a sex pest stalker from Edinburgh who dreams of me becoming one of his "gals"

Pity like most things in his life, it's just a fantasy and never to become a reality
