Help- Old Marston Debt

Hi all,

after a few years- my dfd is in sight- definitely within 2011= fantastic.

However- I have one loose end that I can't seem to clear up.I had an old payday loan in 2009 which was passed to Marstons when I defaulted.

I made two payments and then stopped(combination of reasons really- forgot/no money/couldn't pay via so or dd and would forget to phone). Anyway, since I missed payments (there were 8 payments remaining) I havent heard one thing from them.

I have called them to find out the status of the account and they cant find it- its not showing as satisfied/sold/in arrears, just nonexistent. They recommended I call their enforcements team(CCJs I think/high enforcement). Called them-again no trace.

Ive checked credit expert and equifax-

Equifax-no trace
Experian- in default- showing £800 balance which is correct shown as a debt to the payday company.

I want to pay it off (I know I've done the damage with the default).

Any ideas?

Thanks

Shoes xx

Put the request for details about the debt in writing. If they say they have no record of any debt owed, then they may have lost your data which would be a breach of the DPA, but you may b e able to hold on to that reply to ensure that extra interest or charges hasn't been added since you tried to arrange payment.

  • Hi,

I have the same the problem with Marstons. Recieved one letter about 1 1/2 years ago and didn;t action anything because of my then narrow minded thinking but now I have come to chase it up and pay up they don't seem to have any records of this debt?

I havn't checked my Credit File yet but am planning to do so soon.

Please let me know if you managed to solve the problem?

    Cheers
