Overpayments to reduce monthly payments not term

Hi, I have found sites that tell you how you can reduce the term of your mortgage, but does anyone know how I can calculate how much a monthly mortgage overpayment would reduce the monthly payments by?
Having been made redundant I need to decide whether to overpay the maximum £500 overpayment I am allowed by Nationwide which I could do for for a period of about 18months or keep the cash to live on and stay home with the kids longer!
