There's a seperate mystery shopping thread (just search "mystery shopping"), and the first page of the thread has very useful information that will answer your questions. The question of pay is a tricky one. In general, standard mystery shopping isn't very well paid (and that's the feedback you'll get from the forum), however over the years I have built up contacts in the industry that mean I earn a very comfortable full time income from it - but I'm very much in the minority.
