Change of Job While in IVA

I've posted this on another site that I read, But wondered if any of you had any views..

Hiya All...
I've been in my IVA for three months now and all seems to be going fine, Nice to have a small amount of money left the day before pay day!
When I started my IVA I was in a job that paid £8.25 an hour, But now I have a new job at £9.36 an hour, But my travel to work expenses have increased as a result.
In the £8.25 p/hr job I was spending £180 a month in Petrol, But now i'm buying a weekly season ticket for the train at £65.90 which, If i add it up correctly, is £263.60.
I have spoken on the phone to The company that arranged the IVA (Debt Free Direct.. Yes I know all about them now, But I didnt find this site until after setting it up with them
) But they wont discuss it over the phone so have written them a letter including a copy of my season ticket. Anybody hve any ideas on what I should expect? From reading other post on here it seems that when you have a wage increase they will gladly take extra money but don't seem interested when your living costs go up.
Any advice would be great.
The other James

As I understand it they need to take your change in income for their records only at the moment. When it comes to your next financially review they will re-do the whole of your income and outgoings calculations again and work out the new payment. Obviously the payment can't go down but it will go up if your surplus income goes up. Therefore I would have thought that your payments are unlikely to increase.Debt as at 12th July 2006 - £61,345
Debt free 21st Oct 2011.
All thanks to :money:0 -
Hi, Im in an IVA and I know that im subject to 3 monthly reviews, however, this is based on wage packet.
Wait to see what evolves from the letter, if it doesnt work out well try and contest it.
Sorry I cant help better.
Let us know how it goes.0 -
Yeah, That's how I saw it. After doing some calculations the other night it seems that the Travelling expenses cancels out any extra money I'm earning on the higher pay rate. My IP at DFD doesn't seem very friendly from the calls i've made to him, and seems to want me off the phone as quickly as possible without actually answering any of my questions properly.

jsmith9156 - Not sure if this will help at all but if you buy a monthly season ticket rather than weekly its normally a bit cheaper and its a calender month rather than 28days.... and depending on the journey and the train company you may be entitled to a 5% renewal discount after the first one, plus it means you aint gotta go back every week to buy it!!!Official DFW Nerd number 227
Proud to be dealing with my debts!!!!0 -

You must know all the best dodges. Can't you get to work free by Bus?Debt as at 12th July 2006 - £61,345

Lol James, I wish! I do catch the bus at either end of the journey for free, So that saves some money

Misscutiepie - I wish I could afford to buy it monthly, but I just don't have that much money to hand to pay for it.

Well I thought I would just update on this situation.
After 2 months i've finally had a reply from Debt Free Direct, Who basically have sent me a snotty letter highlighting a piece of the small print from the creditors meeting stating "50% of all income or revenue increases must be paid into the arrangement".
Going by that it seems to give no leeway for the cost of living to go up during the term of the IVA.. surely that can't be right?!
Working it out it would meen they want an extra £80 on top.. and of course with the extra communiting distance and costs seems to me it's not really worth bothering and I should just get a job back at my old level of pay for the next 4 n a half years
What's annoyed me more than anything is that it's taken 2 months to get a rather blunt reply from them!

Could you try telling them that in fact your income has not increased? As surely this takes account of your entire financial statement rather than just your wages, therefore the small print should not take effect.0

Well that's what's so stupid about it all as thats what I went into great detail about in the first letter I sent them.

i don't think they actually bothered to read it, just sent a standard reply back.
