Cinema Party for a 10 year old- help needed please

Hi everyone Im doing a cinema party at home for my DD and her friends and need a bit of help please.

Im gonna do a kiosk in the hallway selling hotdogs, pizza, chips and popcorn and sweets and drinks. (They will have play money to pay.) Then they will go through the red curtains into the cinema (living room), but how can I decorate the living room to make it look a bit more like a cinema??

Also any ideas on any games to play after the film is over??

And does anyone know where I could buy some cardboard holders for the chips like they have at mcdonalds and the cups with lids and straws??

Thanks for reading and hopefully someone will have some ideas for me!!

How about making some posters advertising new films but with photographs of your daughter and her friends as the lead actress/actor

Could you buy some plaster paris Oscars and you could do an awards ceremony where they collected their award for "Best.......", make sure everyone gets an award. They can be fun/cute awards. How about you making these and the girls decorating them as part of the party ... http://www.thesweetestoccasion.com/2010/03/academy-awards-sugar-cookies/

  • I'd be tempted to make cardboard cones for chips.
Are these the sort of thing you're looking for?

Party game idea - "Who am I?" Use famous actors/actresses/film characters appropriate to your daughter's current taste. Write names on pieces of paper and pin to their backs (so they can't see them), they then have to ask questions of each other to try and guess who they are.

How about a mini quiz? Famous lines from a movie ("Nobody puts Baby in a corner") and they have to guess which film. Put them into teams and encourage shouting out for liveliness.

  • Thanks so much for the ideas everyone! I like the game ideas so will be doing them!

I decided to get micro chips instead of buying the cones as they were bogof in my local co-op so that will work out cheaper, and I got a pack of 8 cups with lids and straws for 39p from home bargains!

Im gonna make some posters as suggested and will do a banner for the front door and my mum has got a piece of red carpet for them to walk down the path on!!

Im looking forward to it now!!

My Mum used to do little things like this when we were younger. She used to put chips into coffee filters :)
  • Make the room dark and put christmas rope lights making a path along the floor.

i bet they have cups on ebay - probably the chip cones too.

  • The lids are on ebay hereThey might fit cheap plastic cups from elsewhere. Or you could grab some spares next time you are in subway or a cafe....

They do the cups on ebay too though if you cant find them to fit.

WE did a fashion show 18mth ago at our church youthclub. I borrow a friends white gazebo which we put up outside the main entrance. We then had white outdoor lights it looked great. Also we had 3 friends who are photographers snapping pictures as they arrived. I even had another friend busking outside. Admittedly it was on a larger scale, approx 250 came with parents and youth plus leaders. It was the most amazing night and I went home on a high for what we achieved with little money outlay. We also had canapes and drinks of Shloer for them as they arrived, we used plastic stemmed glasses so no worries on breakages. I would say 90% of the youth joined in the actual fashion show.

If you got some gold card you could cut out stars, or buy the stars, then you could put a photo of each girl in a star. They would decorate the room and be a gift to take home. Ask mums for photos but don't tell the girls. When they come into the lounge they will be on the Wall of Fame, make a banner of Wall of Fame over the stars.

Here's a how to guide for ticket style party invites. http://www.ehow.com/how_2312600_create-ticket-party-invitations.html The lack of pictures isn't very good, but it seems easy enough to follow the instructions.

There are these instructions too which seem a bit easier: http://www.ehow.com/how_7775758_make-own-movie-ticket-invitations.html
