Credit report question.

I used equifax, or one of the others, cant remember now, to check my credit report for free. It only had three entries on it, of which one was a default for a mobile phone I never received, but they are still chasing me for. The other two entries were fine. There was no mention of CCJ's or anything else on the report.

If this is the case, then why are buchanan wells and clark, and Aktiv Kapital asking me for money, when clearly there is nothing owed on my credit report?

Anyone know?

Both agencies probbaly chasing you for the mobile phone bill I imagine.

No. The mobile phone thing is for £50, they are chasing me for £1600 and £500. That is what is confusing me.

Debts probably listed on the site other than the one you viewed ? Do you think you have any outstanding debts ?

I tried equifax and another one, and they both had the same stuff. I thought they gave your full credit report?

If the debt was defaulted more than 6yr ago it won't show on your report. If you haven't acknowledged or paid anything towards this debt (if it was yours) in the last 6yrs it will be statue barred and legally they can't recover the money from you. Look up the prove it and statue barred letter to send via recorded signed for delivery.

But, shouldnt all my credit history show up on a credit report? I assumed it would!

No Bad data such as defaults and ccjs only stay on your file for 6yrs.. this is so people who've come into financial difficulty or made mistakes in the past are not always affected by them.

Without knowing more detail, neither us nor you can know. There are all sorts of potential answers.

Have AK and BCW never explained what the alleged debts are?

At some point, they will allege that you owe something against an XYZ account. If you don't recognise that, then send them a prove-it letter.
