Your best bet is to listen to what the professional people have said. They have all your financial facts are know all the in's and out's of what BR intails which they will be able to impart to you. With all due respect your friends are not qualified to tell you what will happen in BR.
If you take a letter to the court, dated to with in one month of your BR date with details of your JSA money on, then you will just have to pay the £450. If you do not have a letter then you can pay the full amount and get a refund when you have got it.
I would try and get as much time between the transaction and your BR as possible. Though that is not fool proof, you may still end up with a BRO/U
