This is one of Amazons deals of the week this week. 40 inch, full HD, good reviews.0 -
After much research I bought a Samsung LE40C580. See Review at hdtvtest.co.uk
There are frequent deals for this TV at hotukdeals.com. Also try Googling it, & Amazon. I believe it's the best TV in the £400 price bracket0 -
thanks
budjet, probably around £400 - £500
just for watching tv on, as they are going to use there old flat screen for his gaming.
Daughter mentioned that she wanted a dvd incorporated in it, as this saves for another machine being bought
thanks for replies.0 -
I wouldnt get an incorporated dvd, even if its possible. I would buy a seperate BluRay player. This would also play DVDs. The Sony I sent you is at the lower end of your budget and looks like a decent deal to me.0

Agreed about the integrated DVD player ... a very bad idea.
About a month ago there was a deal on HUKD for a Sony KDL40EX403. £399 from John Lewis including 5 Year Warranty. the 403 includes Freeview HD. I bought one for my girlfriend's home. The 401 you suggest doesn't have HD Freeview & is not a particularly good deal.
The Sony is a good TV, but the Samsung LE40C580 has a better panel, better processor, HD Freeview, better picture & sound & better build quality. Examine both at John Lewis, etc. The Samsung looks very expensive with it's glass stand, metal rear cover, transparent bezel edging, & red pinstripe at the base of the bezel. It oozes quality. The Sony looks 'plasticky'. It's stand is fixed, i.e. the tv cannot swivel on it's base ... now that's cheap.0 -
The LG is a decent TV, however, both the Samsung & Sony are superior. The Samsung can be had for not much more money, & is worth the difference for the HD Freeview alone, never mind the better picture quality.0

Argos have these for £249.99 if your local store has any
fulld HD incorporating freeview

I think I recall Evotel TVs being listed in Which? Magazine as 'don't buys', due to poor picture quality, reliability, etc.
Which? omit pricing from the assessment criteria, & it's interesting to see some TVs scoring higher than models that are twice the price. I counted 27 Which? Magazine Best Buy TVs:
Samsung: 10
Sony: 9
Panasonic: 5
LG: 3
Evotel: 00
