No it wasn't, but very valuable items were, by people with inside knowledge, at the height of the troubles. The Museum of Antiquities is very close to Tahrir Sq.

I think the bigger issue is that in the short term all of these leaders have had their assets frozen internationally, so former autocrats and despots are left with the same sort of routes to getting their money around as known criminals - gold, diamonds, too, the sort of things that can be traded with people who aren't bankers and who don't ask questions. That's logical. Gold's probably the easiest of those to spot being smuggled though. Diamonds would show up on xrays, but paper bonds would just get out unfortunately unless the security people knew who to stop.
