debt advice

Hi all i am writing on behalve of a friend who has got into financial difficulty, she owes about 8000 pounds in debt of which 2500 is council tax, which she pays off at 20 poounds per month to a debt recovery agency the rest is utility debts and credit card debt, she is struggling badly and has now spent half her housing benefit money and rent is due this week, she is in a vicious circle, is there any help out there for her she suffers from ME/CFS and depression, she was contemplating bankruptcy but hasnt got the money for the fees any advice would be appreciated

    If she has only £8k of debt she might be eligible for a Debt Relief Order, which will only cost £90. However, without a full statement of her affairs, it's impossible to give full advice. The eligiblilty criteria are much stricter than for BR.

    Can she post her SOA here? Otherwise, suggest to her that she contacts one of the free debt agencies, who will give her best advice :)

  • Thanks for that i will let her know about the debt relief order, and see if she can post her outgoings on here, if possible,her health is being affected by the stress of it all :T
