Sadly I've lost £190 today
Our ex-tenant threatened to take us to court in a dispute over his deposit after he damaged our flat when he moved out. We spent many hours last night and today researching what would be the most likely outcome and sadly as a landlord, the law isnt on our side. The tenant knew this and so we cut or losses and gave in. We had to spend almost £300 to get the flat back to rental standard because of his actions and he's got away with it. Sometimes the law sucks.

nat21luv - sorry to hear that. That seems so unfair but I suppose if you think that the law will favour them more than you, then I guess it is the best decision to cut your losses and not risk losing a court case.Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0

Exactly our thoughts Long, rather give him some of his deposit back(which he jumped at!) than face the stress, time, and money of a court case. I was hoping to keep some of his deposit as a reward for cleaning the balcony on which his unauthorised pet pooch decided to take many, many toilet breaks! (the tenant didnt feel it was his responsibility to clean up after his dog so decided to leave it...all 12 months worth!)_pale_£20k in 2023 = £2718 £2023 in 2023 = £196.41 Grocery challenge £250= £195.80 **MONEY MAKES ME HAPPY**0

£10 is in the bank from the paypal withdrawal. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
