Bargains at Wallis concession, Debenhams Oxford Street

Options
I was shopping at the Oxford St store yesterday (Saturday 26th Feb 2011) evening at about 6pm, and selected a dress from the Wallis concession, which was marked down from the original price. A number of racks of dresses had been similarly reduced.

The price at the till was the original price despite the markdown, and I was told that the markdown was in advance of the sale next week (I presumed at the time the reference was to today, technicaly being the next week). There is no separate Wallis counter, but at my insistence, the counter assistant checked with a member of the Wallis team whether the concession could be applied, whch was refused. It transpired that the sale was not to start until Wednesday - ie the price reductions had been marked four trading days in advance of the sale. I left it as I didn't actually want it that badly but I was cross that my time was wasted in queuing, as I was in a rush. But pricing reductions four days in advance...what on earth is the point, given the amount of traffic that will pass through the store between now and then? And who in their right mind is going to pay £48 for a dress that is marked down to £20???

So ladies, my suggestion is that if you are on Oxford Street between now and Wednesday you insist on your right to a bargain...either you'll succeed or some bright spark instore will decide to price the merchandise correctly!
