Aldi fruit and veg

Why doesn't their f&v have any best before dates on them? I go about 3 times a week for their f&v and forget when I buy the stuff.

I bought some blueberries and 2 days later, the blueberries had white furry mould on them!

It's no different to greengrocers or buying fruit and veg loose at the other supermarkets, there won't be a best before date in it. Maybe make a note of when you buy it, although I tend to just judge its freshness by look/smell etc.

  • Read something by Middy about baskets in Aldi on another thread. Bit of a diversion but why do so many people (possibly like Middy) want to carry stuff when a trolley is so much better (ie no carrying) and FREE!
However the post here is about blame.
It's not Middy's fault that the blueberry's went mouldy was it? Middy chose the pack and stored it and it is still Aldi's fault obviously!
There is a little bit of me saying "for heavens sake use the little (in Middy's case very little) grey cells" a bit more.

I buy most of my fruit and veg from Aldi every week and find it lasts as long as other supermarkets eg Asda/Tesco. I store most of it in the fridge and use those green stayfresh longer bags which you can buy from Lakeland and the pound or 99p shops. The potatoes usually end up in the shed or a dark cupboard.
I don't understand why people seem to have problems with the quality as I never have. Last week I chose not to buy their parsnips in my local store as they looked a bit old but that is just using my common sense.;)
I have saved a fortune by doing most of my shopping in Aldi for the past 5 years.:D

Me too. I buy all my fruit and veg in Aldi or Lidl.

If the fruit/veg goes off after a day I would take it back (with your receipt) or mention it to the manager on your next visit. Just because it is cheaper than Tesco etc doesn't mean you can't complain They can't and won't do anything about it unless you tell them. My local store is great and so are the staff.

You have to store fruit and veg correctly too. Leaving things in closed bags is not a good thing.

We have found this with their oranges and have stopped buying them now.
