So I had an overdraft of 250GBP with Santander and I'd gone over that and was getting charged 100GBP a month for it. I was eventually in to an unauthorised overdraft of 570GBP.
I rang them on the 7th of January and we came to the agreement of me paying 80GBP per month on the 24th of every month until it's paid off. And in return the lady on the phone said she would stop any more 100GBP charges, and even said,
"oh there is another 100GBP charge to go out on the 12th, I'll stop that now for you and any future charges."
So on the 22nd of January I log in and see that the 100GBP charge went out on the 12th of January (even though she said she'd stop it.) and ANOTHER was due to come out on the 12th of February.
On the 24th I sent 160GBP from my Paypal account into my Santander account to cover two months worth of payments. It arrived in to my Santander account on the 2nd of February.
By which point I'm getting letters saying I've broken the terms and constant phone calls when I'm not at home.
The reason I left it until the last day to transfer money in was because i was dubious about paying the money in and it just paying off extra charges that I shouldn't even have had because she told me she'd freeze them.
SO ISN'T IT THEM WHO HAVE BROKEN THEIR TERMS? NOW I HAVE A LETTER SAYING I'M GETTING A DEFAULT AGAINST MY NAME AND TO CUT UP MY CARD "INTO MANY PIECES."

Santander are bloody useless.0

Have you contacted them since they erroneously made another £100 charge?0

Not yet, I've not been at home for the past three weeks. I assumed the fact i paid in double to cover two months worth of payments I would be fine.
I come home and have phone messages and letters saying I've broken the terms and to cut up my card...
If the terms say I have to pay in 80.00 per month and I pay in 160.00... that's two months covered. I'm ahead of payments surely?
I am going to ring them in the morning if they are open, or on Monday first thing.0 -

Did you pay the £160 in one payment?
If you agreed to pay £80 per month, they will expect the payment every month.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
Yeah I paid 160.00 in one payment on the 24th of January from Paypal. So you can't pay in advance? Damn0

I imagine they would have taken the extra £80 to be an attempt to clear your balance quicker & they would have been expecting the next £80 in February as you has arranged.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0

Do you think they will be lenient as seen as they broke their terms first and still took 100GBP charge out on the 12th of January that I was told would be cancelled?0

You could try asking them.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0
