Leather Jackets - any advice??

My OH wants a leather jacket for Christmas, but I don't really know where to start looking.

He would like soft leather and he has told me the styles he likes.

Any ideas/recommendations??

I'd like to say money no object, but it is, however, I want to buy him something really nice, so "within reason!"

Thank you for all your help

TK Maxx also do quite a few in the run up to Xmas at reasonable prices. Worth checking out. I picked one up for my brother last year

I agree with Jen; the ASDA ones are nice with 20% off (finishes today). Go for the "collections" range (their "posher" range) - the are better quality than their normal ones and very reasonably priced.

I second TKMaxx - last week they had quite a few leather jackets, in lots of styles, starting at £35. This was on the Urmston retail park near the Trafford centre. Some of these were well-known brands like Ben Sherman.
  • just a bit of random info here for anyone buying leather- (my OH told me this and it actually works)
if in doubt as to whether something is in fact real leather, ask the seller if you can hold a lit cigarette to it-if they panic and insist you can't it probably isn't leather as it would not burn nor leave a mark(a reputable reatiler would know this). if they let you and it leaves a mark or burns-it isn't leather.
my OH has a real leather jacket and has done this to show me and it really doesn't leave any marks at all!
***please don't do this to any of your existing clothes if you really like them but are unsure if it is leather---if it isn't leather they will burn and be ruined.***
  • Although you can't always choose the style, and it's not a useful Xmas tip (starting off as the word post ever) - Gap always tend to do good deals on their leather jackets in the January sales - between 50 and 70 percent off. Good quality too - they end up at about £70. I guess, have a look now - if they have the style, risk it and wait a week.

  • Try Makro. They usually have a reasonable selection.

I third TK max, you can grab some good bargains there but may need multiple visits. Sometimes it can be a bit of a lottery to get the right thing.

Just got a Ben Sherman suede jacket reduced from £90 to £70 to £35.
