Paid of default notice

Options
Hi all,

I thought i would post up asking for abit of advice.

Last week i joined a credit rating comapany (So i can see my credit score) Equifax..

I noticed i had a default notice on there from Carphone W, this is back in 2007. I was shocked abit by this so i called them and got them to digg out there infomation they had regarding it.

Anyway, i paid the amount (£99). They said the account would now be changed to "Settled"

Question is, what happens next? Would CPW put a notice on the account to say this was paid? Or?

Also would equifax see the change in details and change the default to settled as well? Or is this not the case.

Many thanks
Matt

  • The default will still be visable but will just say settled next to it.

The default will stay on your credit report from the date you paid it and not the date that it happened Im sure.
  • Thanks for your help.

So i take it if i was to apply for credit. They would see the "settled" notice.

I presume this is still as bad as having the default next to my credit score.

    many thanks

You should have received a default notice from them before the default was put on your file. Did you get this? It would have given you some time to deal with the matter before a default was put on the file.

If you didn't get a default notice, then i would make a complaint.
