Anyone know the cheapest place to buy vax carpet shampoo or similar please! I've just been given a vax carpet shampooer via freecycle and want to give my carpets a good wash lol!

Wilkinsons etc do it as do places like pound shops. Any shampoo that says it's for electric machines will do the trick, the actual Vax shampoo can be a tad pricey.

I've got Astonish - cheapy brand - in my cupboard at the moment, I use my vax massively and it's fine. I often go over them with a bit of fabric conditioner after shampooing too, smells nice and seems to repel dirt that bit longer

1001 carpet shampoo for £1 at Poundland. Bought some yesterday. (This was in Manchester Arndale Centre)

  • Astonish in £shop works better in my Vax machine than the Vax liquid that came with the machine, in my opinion.
I won't be buying the Vax liquid again for sure. I bought it off Amazon for silly money, it wasn't as good at cleaning the carpet AND it was a smaller bottle than the £shop Astonish.
Try it before paying out more than you need to.

  • I have used the one bought in poundland and it works a treat.
  • The little diy shop near me (Sheffield) sells the vax shampoo for 95p so it might be worth having a look in any little local shops near you
  • I use either the Astonish or 1001 Carpet Cleaner solutions, whichever is cheaper at the time. Home Bargains currently have the Astonish one for 89p
