Hi ,

After a few stressful calls with Lloyds Tsb yesterday I finally bit the bullet and called CCCS yesterday (what the poor guy thought of me crying down the phone at him :o).

I posted in Sept when my OH lost his job and we really hit rock bottom. He managed to get another job for less money and with the help of my amazing sis we have somehow managed to keep going, no late payments, arrears etc except with my catalogue (I have one missed payment).

I worked out our DD's coming off on the 1st March and saw we were £91.61 short.
Thinking I should be proactive I phoned Lloyds hoping for a one month payment holiday on our loan the payment is £91.41 ( the loan has a few months to go and as said above there are no late payments or arrears) and they said no as there werent enough working days to stop the DD.
So I asked if I could pay it 3 days later as OH gets paid on the 4th and he passed me on to a different dept who went through all my finances then said no. They said my account now has a block on lending and they've blocked my credit card and there is nothing they can do to help.
I nearly laughed at her though when she said that because I had called she could as a gesture of goodwill waive all my charges then looked at my accounts (bank, loan and credit card) and went "oh, there aren't any charges and you've been managing your accounts quite well.
Ironically if I had just phoned up and asked to increase my loan by £100 they would have let me.

Our finances aren't great, we have a lot of debt but I've been looking for a second part-time job and OH has also been looking for a better paid job.
We have been managing ok (no social life, no treats etc) but have been paying all the bills and I now feel so frustrated that it seems to be falling apart because they couldn't give us 3 days grace on 1 payment.

I'm now waiting for CCCS to call back on Thursday with I hope a plan of action on what we should do. They recommended that I get a bank account with someone we don't owe money to (i'm doing that on Monday) and to cancel the DD for the loan to stop the bank account going overdrawn and seemed a bit surprised that LLoyds weren't willing to help in a 3 day extension.

The woman i spoke to for the DD cancellation also seemed quite shocked that Lloyds weren't willing to help.
I wasn't, I've never found Lloyds helpful. In my opinion they have now cut off their nose to spite their face.

CCCS said not to spend this weekend getting stressed and upset but I hate not being in control and I'm worried that we might end up losing our house.

I guess i'm just looking for a bit of advice or support and some hand holding from others who have been in the same situation.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings.

  • Stelly have a look in the DMP Mutual Support thread part 7. Lots of good advice in there and you will soon see you are not alone. I was "lucky" and had my LBM last year. This year will have lots more new members joining an unwanted club membership.
