I'm disappointed in you TG! Of course you can use "word" and "excel" on an iPad. You just have to use the Apple version i.e. "pages" and "numbers". Numbers isn't great when you have an already heavily changed excel document as some of the formatting doesn't translate perfectly, so if you have an excel report it's not very good. You can access and edit though.

    So I can't use Excel then ...................... ;)

Nope. Netbook is definitely the best bet.

I havent seen the deals for a while, but the mobile companies used to give netbooks for free when you took a mobile data contract

But in all honesty if you are getting it just for MS-ing, you don't need a mobile data contract so could end up paying for what you don't need - cheaper in the long run to just buy the Netbook. There is always going to be a MacD's, Starbucks or Costa offering free wi-fi so for the price of a coffee I use that.

Hubby got me my netbook for Xmas 2009, I have got an O2 mobile dongle, but never use it!!

Obviously the dongle would have to suit the individual's needs otherwise like you said it wouldnt get used.

I had to use my 3 dongle the other day when by broadband went down, I was really quite surprised that the prices have come down. £2 for 24 hours usage, 500MB allowance. Our time actually lasted 36 hours in the end, not sure how. And we still didnt manage to use all the 500MB up. But £2? Bargain!

I'm not entirely sure because the sales assistant was clueless but the iPad didn't appear to have a USB or a cardreader, both of which I would want as I want to back up video files when away from home.

I wish the iPad had slightly less security on it in shops so you can pick it up. I know I could have gone to a better shop but I MS phone shops too much!

Voda, is offering a dongle 5.00 a month for great useage. For me I do a lot of travelling and overnight stays for MSing... and its 10.00 a time at a hotel to connect so the dongle makes sense for me.
  • i have just had my busiest month ever but not got much booked now. had a few months off before xmas as bought a house and went on long hol and seemed quiet in jan/feb. as i hadnt done any for so long obv didnt have any rotations so could do most of what i could pick up. edig were very good to me too. wont be the same this month i fear! :(

I've just had my busiest month ever too. Though most of it is regular jobs that I get every month / quarter and they all seemed to come together the first week of this month.

I'm not surprised, but I am hacked off with GAP. A month or so ago I was offered a 'bribe' job. Test project, decent fee. (that's actually decent, not gap decent) looked at it again - still not for another 3 weeks. No fee, reimbursement less than 1/2 previous fee.

Hope they need somethind done last minute soon so I can express my feelings on the subject!

March-April were uber busy handing a lot of work back (video side) but I saw a dip in report only after about April 12th... I think things will pick up again in the summer when Old stones for GFK are released a lot more and some other summer projects start.
