missing parcel, post office

recently i posted a parcel , which cost me £5.50 to mail, through post office, unfortunatelly the recipient did not get the parcel, and has claimed £220 back through paypal which now im in debt with paypal, i have been in touch with the post office and tried to claim it back but they insist on original proof of reciept/posting, unfortunately ive misplaced it, however i did wright all the information down,.. i.e date, time, cost and transaction ID. but still they insist on the original reciept. is there anything else i can do to claim back my lost.? please help

it was recorded first class with signature

Have you tracked the item on the Royal Mail website?

If that doesn't show up it being signed for, or if you cannot provide the original receipt, then I think Paypal have done the correct thing, sorry, but if it was worth that much you should have sent it by special delivery.
