I saw a machine advertised on the TV, think its Bex Bissell, anyone seen it/seen it cheap??? - or can recommend any half decent make that leaves carpets fairly dry.

I've got a Vax Rapide Deluxe which i think does a great job on my carpets.
I bought it from Tesco for about 125.00.

I have a Bissell cleaner. Not sure what it's called - it's the one that's usually advertised for £100. I bought it for £88 delivered with free cleaning liquid.
I wouldn't be without it. We don't wear our shoes indoors and the water afterwards is still revolting so goodness knows what it would look like if we did wear shoes.
I use it about twice a week (lots of people traffic) and not sure if you are supposed to but I use very hot water in it and instead of the carpet cleaning stuff you can buy I use cheap disinfectant - It makes the carpets smell lovely.

I bought it online from from Scottish something (sorry) water or electric or even gas.

It is very easy to use, quick, light and carpet dried very quickly (within a couple of hours).

The only negative I can say about it is that you can't do the stairs with this model.

I have a Polti steam cleaner. Bought off QVC.
They are quite expensive to buy...but are brilliant. Cleans carpets..windows..ovens..floors..you name it..it will clean it.
Because it is steam..the carpets don't get wet at all.
