Equifax - remove linked financial associate

Options
Just wondering if anyone has ever had any issues removing a financial link with someone on Equifax?

I emailed them last Monday and got an automated email saying

"Thanks. We've received your question, which will be investigated by one of our team. We're responding to customers within 7 days at the moment, and we'll keep you informed of any updates by email. Yours sincerely, Equifax Customer Care"

There's a note at the bottom asking that I don't reply to the automated email - but no alternative email to contact them on.

I've heard nothing from them since that automated email.... anyone have a similar experience, or any idea how I can get this sorted?

I removed the link on Experian within 24 hrs with no problem at all!

Thank you x
Here to offer help and advice, and maybe take a little in return.

Just spent 30 mins trying to phone this lot, with no luck (on my mobile too so lord knows how much I've just wasted!) After searching for a bit I found an email address, so have fired off an email to them with the case number etc, fingers crossed....!

  • If you sign in to the online dispute section, where your question will be posted, you can add updates to an open question. There could even be a response to your question that for some reason hasn't been emailed to you. They took a while to sort some thing for me recently - but I updated my questions asking them for updates and they did. The delay is probably because they are trying to verify what you are telling them is correct.

Ok this is not so bad as you have them by the short and curlies so to speak.

Call them and put it in an email and snail mail

    1) Under the data protection act it is their responsibility to ensure all information is accurate < FACT as they charge financial institutions to do a search and are therefore providing a service (do NOT let them FOB you off on this)

    2) Under UK law you CANNOT enter financial/credit agreements under the age of 18<FACT

    3) DO THEY realise a) you were 11 years of age
    b) you could not be linked financialy at
11 years of age to anyone.
    c) Legally you could not enter into any credit
    agreement.
    d) therefore, this information is incorrect
and therefore in breach of the data
    protection act.
    e) they now have 24 hrs to ammend this.
    f) should they not ammend this information
you will seek legal support and sue for
    damages (financial) and stress.
    g) report to all relevenant authorities such
    as data commissioner, financial
    ombidsman and local/national press.

    kind regards

    your worst nightmare.
