Holiday problem

Options
Not sure where to post this but thought I would try here.

My friend has suggested a few days away which I would like to do but my determination to pay off my debts really is my first priority at the moment.

I have had a look online and even a couple of days in the UK works out at over £100 which I would rather not spend.

I dont want to upset my friend because she has been a really good friend to me at a time when I have really needed her support.

What to do???

Any advice would be great.

Thanks in advance.

If you don't want to spend it then I would explain that you cannot afford it financially at the moment.

You could possibly suggest you plan something in for some point in the future (when your finances are better) or could you suggest instead a cheap day out somewhere, if you just go somewhere for the day maybe you could just keep the costs right down to petrol and a lunch between you?

Or say you'd love to but can't really afford it but you'll keep an eye out for a super cheap deal through MSE (you know like when there are special offers of £9rooms etc).

Or possible even suggest waiting for better whether and having a night away camping (super cheap if you are brave enough to face it!)

I understand you don't want to upset your friend, but if she is as good a friend as you say she should understand and accept your situation without question.
Here to offer help and advice, and maybe take a little in return.

Whilst I am happy to share my knowledge, I am in no way a professional... I can not therefore accept responsibility for inaccurate info, I ask that you take professional advice rather than rely totally the info provided by myself
  • Times are hard everywhere and for many, many people.

As above poster has said - just explain that you can't spare the cash just now.

If it would make you feel guilty/miserable/prolong your debt, then it's not worth doing at the moment.

See if you can organise a super-cheap day out - with free stuff to do - a change of scene might do you good!

    Good luck.
