Cahoot Credit Card Default

Hi,
I need some advice please. I have recently been checking my credit reports and I appear to have a default on my account from September 2006. I was paying Cahoot via my DMP with CCCS and Cahoot advise that a payment was missing in July 2006, Paid in August 2006, missed in September 2006 then got back on track.
This default still appears to be applied monthly on the callcredit report. This is severely impacting my ability to get credit. The rest of my report is squeeky clean now after being in a huge mess.
I have just spoken to Cahoot and they say they cannot remove the Default as the information they have is correct. I do not recall getting the Default Notice.
Is there anything I can do? Can I contest at all? I have no way to prove either way what they are saying.
Will a Notice of correction help at all?
Thanks

Can you request a copy of the default notice?DFD = [STRIKE]May 2028[/STRIKE] February 2016Nov 2010 = £49128.50
February 2016 = £0.000 -
A default is applied just one point in time, its not actually reapplied every month. And as you were on a DMP and paying less than the contracted amount the you did default on the account.
You could try asking them for a copy of the default notice as you don't recall seeing it, but they only have to prove it was sent rather than that you received it so people don't tend to have much luck going down that route.
You could try adding a notice of correction some people think its helpful sometimes but for a lot of lenders it doesn't make any difference.
What is the date of the original default? if its Sept 06 then it will stay on until Sept 12.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi,
I had been in the DMP a lot longer, since about 2004. they are currently sending me a copy of the payments etc. The default amount is for £397, the annoyance is, that they closed the account in June 2008 and wiped the outstanding amount clear so I haven't even the outstanding amount to 'negotiate' with.
The date of the original default is 30th September 2006, I guess I'll just have to wait for it to fall off my report, its just affecting me heavily.
