Oh my!
Just made some soup - had some fruit and veg on the turn - and had a chicken carcass because I was making a curry.
Into my soup went:
chicken stock
celery
spring onions
broccoli
carrots
grapes
coriander
The surprising thing was it doesn't taste too bad, which is handy because I've got over 2 litres of the stuff! None of the fruit and veg was in the flush of youth. So, just remember, soup is a better alternative to throwing stuff away... Anybody want to come round for lunch?Mortgage Free Wannabe

My HUGE expense was a Pork joint for £6 but it is almost 2.5kgs :T and will feed us many meals.
I'm not doubting your word but I just don't see how it is possible to live on £30.19 for a whole week. Do you do top up shops in between? Presumably this is for one person? How many meals is that for? I mean is it evening meals only?

Kitchenbunny, just added your Pizza Toastie to the index
Welcome Aldahbra and Mumof2Beasties and any other newbies I may have missed (sorry)
Aldahbra, don't worry too much about what others are spending, we all have different circumstances and different ways of managing our budget. Because I keep a good store cupboard, I can often manage with one online shop a month, just topping up once for milk and veg at the local shop; others are able to shop around all the sm's for the best bargains or are really good at chasing down the whoopsies (yellow stickered reductions)... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Just updated my total, getting scary now as only £60 left and 19 days to go. Some serious meal planning will have to be done around what we have in to keep it under control.
Dinner tonight will be a Tuna pasta bake type thing, not had it for ages and got 6 tins of Tuna in the Cupboard - bought when they were on special aaaaagggeees ago - this is why it pays to check cupboards regularly, you never know what you have hiding in there, also got 12 tins of Baked Beans, bought when on special.
Got loads of Seeds sown both in the Greenhouse and up at the Allotment which will save us money in the Summer months. Planning to sow some Kale up at the Allotment today, never grown it before but need to put some Veg in that will see us over the Winter months too. I've also put in another 2 Blackcurrant bushes, we love soft Fruit so want to make the most of the space as they are so cheap to buy and you get loads of Fruit from them.
Off to check out recipe pages as I've been given a 500g bag of Cashews and don't want to just sit and munch our way through them, wondered if there was anything exciting I could do with them.;)
Have a good day everyone - thinking of you and your OH angelatgraceland."WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Hi guys. Just read on the lidl site that amongst this weekend's specials are a huge box of non bio powder for £3 odd. You could easily make this last 120 washes if you halved the amounts. Also there are packs of pork loin for £1.39.
Hope it helps some to meet their budgets a little.
I am really pleased with myself as I am way on target with so much shopping in too!!
A little planning seems to go a veeeeeery long way.
Missus aka:
Thanks for mentioning frozen sliced mushrooms! I have 2 packs of whoopsied mushrooms and I am struggling to use them. I can now slice and pop in freezer bags!
I LOVE this site. So very useful!!!!:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A
