What is best to do - i've read lots and lots and lots of threads on here tonight, just trying to gather help from other peoples posts, seems lots of people use Payplan, not so many do it themselves, it is easier/better to let Payplan do the work or is it better to go it alone ? - i've registered with Payplan and awaiting the callback but presume that doesn't tie me in to having to go through them. thankyou.

Many companies seem to accept plans more readily if they are done via a formal FREE company. Presumably, because they believe that circumstances and budgets will have been reviewed formally so that the payments they get are the maximum practical at that time?
Saying that, many many do find running their own DIY plans to be little problem.
CCCS are also free and impartial, so perhaps investigate them as well.

TBH, I wouldn't have known where to start if we didn't go with CCCS. The process is quite chaotic at the start, be prepared for this, and we really needed and appreciated the support of CCCS. Several of our creditors also noted the involvement of CCCS with approval and we definitely got the feeling that if we hadn't used them it might not have been straight forward. But, each to their own, do what feels right for you.
I would recommend getting all your papers in order, a new filling box / drawer set up, maybe do a basic spreadsheet of some sort - we did an excel one that I update weekly. All these things are worthwhile whichever route you choose.0
