Is a dog Licence required in Northern Ireland or is just having a "chip" installed sufficient?

Yes, you must have a dog licence. A basic licence is only £5 per year. You obtain the licence from your local council dog warden office. My council has a facility to do this online. You can however note your chip number on the dog licence form and they will notify you if they find it.
Your dog must wear the licence tag and I also think you must have a tag with your phone number / address on it also.0 -

Just thought id say that i write my house number and postcode on the back of the tag the council sends me...less clutter and jangling around my poor dog's ears.As for putting the dog's name on a tag well i think that thats a cop out as the council will know by the tag number and microchip(if included) who owns the dog. What difference does it make what the dogs name is really.0
