Are our Doctors competent?

Oh - what an interesting topic....
My GP has a big sign in the reception:
"One appointment - one problem" ie if you want to see your GP about more than one issue you need to book more than one appointment (which is really impossible). So what if the issu is complex and has several symptoms/ One appointment for each symptom?
My daughter was not diagnosed here, went abroad, diagnosed on the day and treated the same week (she is insured tehre too so not private healthcare, just equivalent of the NHS)
I am forever being told that my "symptoms" are due to depression adn I should take prozac....
Yeah.. rite.. paracetamol and prozac seem to be solution to absolutely EVERYTHING in UK ....
Just for the record - 10 years of working for the NHS with doctors/nurses in both PCT (GPs) and Acute Hospital settings - as a trainer...sigh....the things I have seen/heard....0 -
You should meet professional lawyers with your complete detailed reports, and they will advice you. Medical malpractice is very common these days.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I agree with RED DOE here! the pressed for time reason doesn`t always apply.I can see the point of those supporting doctors, but look at it this way too..yes, they only have that ten minutes..but when a patient is repeatedly returning, with the same symptoms and asking for help, all those ten minutes add up. Are you telling me the doctor wouldn`t hear some alarm bells in more serious cases and seek further investigation?
Also, in the case of rural surgeries (of which I can only speak myself), the doctors get to know each patient pretty well over the years! So the pressed for time reason doesn`t always apply.
Sorry, I`m not dismissing the competence of every single doctor, but I do feel the `bad` ones are more prevalent than people realise.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
