Cash or Debit Card...........

  • Debit card all the way.

I have £5 a week cash for emergencies (bus fare , stamp etc.....) . I pay for everything by Debit card. When I put petrol in , I put in £9.60 not £10 , that way , it looks less on statement , and the 40ps mount up. ALso no change in pocket to tempt me to buy a chocolate or newspaper etc....

Psychological , tahts what it is

Neither. Cashback credit card for me whenever possible. Safer than a debit card, 3% cashback and i pay it off every month. I only use my debit card for withdrawing cash from the hole in the wall (although too much as i'm always overdrawn come payday!)

A few interesting ideas there, thanks.

Pay day on Thursday so I may try the 'cash' option this month and Debit Card next, although Xmas is an unusual time...........

I make sure i have got enough food/petrol etc at the beginning of the week for the whole of the following week, and i take lunch to work, and I get free parking at work. I then make sure I havent got any cash on me, after all I dont need anything to need cash for!

It means you have to be organised and know what you are going to eat for the week, but you do spend less money. It also prevents me popping into the shop for a magazine or a bar of choccy as ive not got lose change on me and i wouldnt dream of putting that on a debit card!
