SCM Solicitors... Lloyds TSB

Options
Hi all!

Hubby has an O/D with Lloyds TSB on an account he no longer uses, he pays £35 a month off this and has done for some months now! Today I listened to our voicemails and we had a message from yesterday evening from SCM Solicitors regarding a buisness matter and requesting my hubby contact them asap.

I have googled them and it seems that SCM are actually Lloyds TSB - Im not sure what to do now? Hubby works away and is not back till the weekend, I am unable to phone as the account is nothing to do with me.

Some of the posts I have come across regarding SCM are similar stories to ours and involve people who have arrangements in place and are maintaining them, and some have described SCM as Lloyds using scare tactics - so i dont know what to do for the best??

We have had nothing but trouble with Lloyds since day one anyway as they have broke the arrangement or had no knowledge of it on more than one occassion causing hubby to get charges etc

Would love to pay them off they are the worse :'(

Any advice please!

Thanks in advance xxx

  • SCM are in house, probably even the person as standard collection just using headed paper.
If he is paying £35 a month I think i'd just continue to do so. They will most likely just be wanting him to pay more. Ive got a credit card debt with Lloyds and the SCM letters came very quick. My debts now with Fredrickson and i'm paying them £5 a month.

    Thanks for the reply...

Did you move the debt or did they? I would quite like to transfer the debt over to someone easier to deal with but would that affect our credit rating?and is it as easy as that to move the debt? xxx

  • They did.
I think they just have a natural routine for dealing with things, mine went to Moorcroft exactly 6 months after the last full contractual payment.
But I really would not worry about it, they are a bit intimidating but thats exactly why they use the solicitor letter rather than collections.
They will write to you soon enough, if they do ring just tell them you wish to communicate in writing only. Dont be intimidated and only pay what you can afford. :)
