Hi I had mine today, it was pretty laid back and nothing to worry about.
The first 30 mins were just showing our id, proof of address and national insurance numbers. Then the trainer spoke to us for a bit, nothing that wasn't in the online training. Most of the time was taken up by us doing 'doorstop scenarios' in small groups, with various people pretending to be census collectors and householders. She left us to chat for amongst ourselves alot though while we were preparing, so we hardly got anything done.
It was a bit of a waste of time really, but you get paid for it if they take you on. There was no test or anything, I doubt anyone 'failed'. Just make sure to take all the right id documents etc, and you should have got a couple of booklets and a dvd through the post, so if you've got those take them (I haven't received anything, but everyone else had).Freebies: Nov - £5 Habitat voucher; Dec - £5 Amazon voucher, mini bottle of Glavya
Wins: Dec - £100 voucher & £100 for charity from Lands' End, Garnier Set from E4 :rudolf:0 -
Thanks! Yeah mine was pretty similar, though our trainer was really helpful and answered a lot of questions, but some of it (pretending to be a co-ordinator or a householder) was pretty pointless.0

I've got mine in the morning too. Does the classroom training involve any questions that I should already know from reading the two instruction guides? I'm afraid I haven't had time to read them through yet so am going to tonight.
If I haven't read and memorised the guides should I be worried about tomorrow??0 -
The classroom training doesn't involve any questions as such. The trainer might say something like 'the census relates to what night?' and some know all pipes up '27th of March' but that's all. Like others have said it's almost all role-playing and quite light hearted. Don't worry, you'll be fine!0

Same here leeann79 - mine's a 50 mile round trip, sounds like it's a bit of a hoop to jump through...
But weirdly I'm quite looking forward to the actual work, and the extra cash, of course.Barclaycard 0% - [STRIKE]£1688.37 [/STRIKE] Paid off 10.06.120 -
I have got my classroom training in the morning but luckily mine is only about 16 miles away which I was pleasantly surprised about! Just not the fact its so early
I am quite looking forward to the work really. Just wondering do you have to act out role play in front of the whole group or is it in small groups? Is there a pass or fail or is it just like a normal class? How many people have been in attendance at your class room training. Im only 23 I hope Im not the youngest person there :S

The role play is in front of the whole group, but in mine we only had 10, I have heard there have been quite a few more in some groups though. I really wouldn't worry though it is done in quite a laid back way.
Now I am someone who absolutely hates role play, the thought makes me feel sick, I have done quite a few in the past for work and a voluntary role I do at the moment. But even I didn't find these too bad and I was able to think to myself actually I am never going to see me again so it really dosent matter. There was a complete mix of ages and people at mine.0 -
Thank you very much for getting back to me so quick. I hate role play too and I am a teacher and have to do things in front of groups of people all the time, but I can cope with children
I just hope I can do the job as when I read the on line test I just didnt understand some of it, it all looked so complicated!
Thanks again :j:jHas saved so much money since joining this forum, thanks to all you kind people out there :j0
