Argument with Bank

Hi, I wonder if any of you guys/gals can offer some advice ?
My wife has a loan with Halifax, it is due to finish Oct this year. she arranged
the Loan by Telephone and agreed after much prompting from the customer Service Advisor to take Payment Protection. Anyway, she has been ill since August this year and with all the events in our Family in the past 10 months both of us forgot about the Payment Protection. We got on to Halifax and received loads of forms !!! At the time of returning the forms my wife had been off work 6months. She got a text message today(23/2.PM), they are saying 1.The 1st month does not count and 2. they will only pay 3months ! She asked a few questions and was informed she should have read the small print and she also had 30 days to cancel !! I recall saying to my wife I felt she was mis-sold
the Payment Protection ! But hindsight is wonderfull and taking on the Gobbledegook of the banks is nigh on Impossible.

  • Which is likely to be the most profitable for OP?
A valid claim would pay for 12 months? or a full refund of the PPI ??

Without the figures we cannot advise.
