Is it worth asking for the CCA info?

I'm on a DMP already, for a couple of months now. I've been doing a lot more reading and am only just learning the basics.
I was wondering is it worth me asking for the CCA from the creditors?
If they don't/can't provide it what are the implications of this?
I've got a CC from way, way back and would be surprised if they had a CCA still. But I have an awful lot more creditors than that!

It depends on what your motives are?
Have the creditors who you intend on sending off a CCA request to accepted your DMP?
If they come back with no enforceable CCA is your intention to then stop paying them? If so, be aware that some creditors will still take you to court on the basis of a reconstructed CCA.
The CCA route, when used well, can give you lots of leverage over a creditor, and even give you reason to stop paying them. But be aware it is potentially a huge can of worms and potentially is a precursor to legal action.
Theres too much info to put in one post (probably why you've not got many replies) but you need to consider your motives and what you want to gain from such an action.

Thanks SnV.
well, I wasn't really sure what motives there could be. The query was triggered by looking at another debt/financial advice forum where people seemed to be frequently told to look for CCA as these often couldn't be found and <the upshot was> this could lead to the debt being unenforceable. This sounded like a good thing and I was worried I was missing a trick! However, these are my debts and I do need to deal with them, from what you say it may just open up a whole can of irritating worms.

Unless there are specific problems with the accounts and/or acceptance of the DMP, then I would be inclined to not bother for now.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
