We are flying out of Dublin in a few weeks. the bus is £17 each return, we will then need to get a taxi home as we arrive back late so about another £15. Parking looks like it may be the same/cheaper. We have parked in quickpark before, it's 7 euro a day.
Had a look at this site http://www.airportparkingsite.ie has anyone parked at the park and fly carpark or airside parking ca park?any views?
Thanks.

Have you factored in petrol/diesel costs too? There's something very convenient about getting into your own car and just driving off, but on the bus you can have a nap etc so it's swings and roundabouts.
Plus it takes AAAAGES to get out to some of the car parks in Dublin when you arrive back (I speak from experience).

Yes even with petrol it was only a few pound dearer, cuz of 2 bus fares and the taxi home. Happy to pay a wee bit extra for less hassel, reckon we would be waiting an hour for the bus and not getting home until after 3.0

The Airside Airport Parking is completely automated. You get unique pin codes to enter and exit the car park. The shuttle bus is every 30 mins, but it is run independently so you will be charged to use this. It is €2 per person return. I think it had a few problems to start off with but have heard good things about it since.
Park and Fly Dublin is about a 10 minute transfer but the shuttle bus is included with the price.
If you want somewhere really close the best options are the Clarion or the Carlton, a little dearer but as I say very close.
Hope this helps!!!!!0 -
Having flown out of Dublin quite a few times recently we always take the car and park. Probably costs the same as doing the bus/taxi combo but landing and knowing you can just get in a drive suited us perfectly. We have never had to wait too long to get to/out of car park although our flights were never at peak times.

The issue with the car park isn't how long it takes to get in or out, it's how far it is from the airport. Last time I parked in the blue carpark associated with the airport. it was really poorly signposted and we drove around for about 20 mins trying to find the place. We were lucky a shuttle bus came straight away since they only run every 30 mins during the night. it was about a 10 min transfer to the airport but that was obviously with no traffic at all. To be honest I'd be tempted to park in the short stay carpark next time...0

I stayed at Bewleys before for an early flight the next morning, I was surprised at how busy it was, but our flight was so early breakfast hadn't even started. The bus to the airport was efficient though and we got breakfast after having checked in. It wasn't too dear and parking was secure for the trip. So, I'd recommend Bewleys!0

Thanks all. we are def gonna drive the ease outweighs the few pound extra! Flying out at 4pm and arrive back 11pm so no point really in staying in a hotel. Did you think the car parks at hotels were secure enough? JMurph, is it a barrier car park or just open? Have heard about people coming back to cars that have been broken into when parking at hotels.:eek:0

We parked at Park and Fly. Was secure and good enough car park. Only downside was that they only had 1 shuttle so we had to wait about ten mins after arriving and at the airport so you would need to make sure you had plenty of time before your flight.0

Hi
Have a look on https://www.parksmart.ie, it compares all the prices and shows reviews etc.0 -
We flew out of Dublin to JFK a few years ago (driving from Belfast).
We were traveling out very early in the morning, so it was easier to take the car.
However, when we were coming back we suffered badly from jet-lag/exhaustion and nearly fell asleep (while driving) a few times on the way home. Maybe we just tried to do much during our holiday?
For the sake of my survival, I'd would get the bus in future!
I suppose it depends on where you're traveling from/to and what kind of holiday you're planning.0
