Advice appreciated, I have received two letters from a company called lowells advising me that i owe £300 to O2 for a mobile phone debt in 2008.
These letters have arrived within days of each other and have my first name on them, one also has the correct initial of my middle name, but a strange surname. I have had house for over a year, and it is not the previous occupiers name. I have never had an account with O2.
Can anyone advise me how to deal with this? i marked the first one return to sender, not known at this address, but a second one came the next day. I am loathe to phone and give my details to this company, but i am worried they may send debt collectors round.
What is the best course of action to take?.

If its not your surname then I would simply keep putting them back in the post with not known at this address on the letters.
They almost certainly won't send debt collectors round - and on the off chance they did more fool them for wasting their time and money - just tell them you've never heard of the person in question.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Yes iv been doing this, its just worrying that they have the right first name, and its not a terribly common name.0 -

Well, considering they have the surname wrong, it's not yours anyway!
Return to sender - Not known at this address. Don't even open them, just return them. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
