EVERGLADES HASTING HOTEL - Groupon problem ???

I have bought and successfully used Groupon deals before and I am a bit of a 'jobsworth' when it comes to reading the small print on forms.

I bought the groupon deal a few weeks ago for a one night stay at the Hastings Everglades Hotel and having read the small print didn't see the need for any urgency in phoning to arrange a date for a Saturday night.

Having finally sellected a Saturday night in April, and having checked availability on the hotel website first, I have just phoned the hotel who told me that there are no Saturday nights left for the GROUPON deal ...it would appear that like the Tesco deals, the hotel only had a certain number of rooms set aside for Groupon and Tesco clubcard users.

There was no mention on the groupon voucher that there was 'limited availabllity'.

I'm not sure if Groupon can help ( I need to email them next) or if the hotel are at fault for not highlighting their policy more openly, but thought I'd share my problem 'with the group' in case it helps anyone else from falling into the same 'trap'

  • I think the people who bought the Millbrook Lodge deal are struggling too - I've heard all weekends are gone and there are only weeknight stays available which a lot of people are unhappy about!

Surely if the place is booked out for the foreseeable weekends ahead, then the hotel can't be at fault...? Its not their prob if the deal was popular. If 500 people wanna all book at the same time, then obviously some are gonna lose out on weekends...
  • I think the point is there is availability at the hotel, just not at the special groupon rate. :-)
  • I think the problem is with groupon not the hotel, and the fact there was no cap on the numbers sold
