Scanning a large number of A4 pages?

Not exactly money saving I know but I have kept my children's 'special day out' diaries that they have written over the years, the pages include photographs, tickets etc all stuck on to the page.
There are approximately 100 A4 pages (double sided) and I was wondering whether I could get these scanned (documentscanning.net?) onto a cd and then I could upload these images to make up a photobook type journal (photobox style).
I do have a scanner but I was hoping to get a very accurate copy of the pages by sending them away to have them copied professionally.
Any suggestions?

Is your scanner not very good?
I have scanned a lot of stuff over the years, including kids drawings etc and they are fine.
One you have them on the PC you can then do what you like with them (including making a photo book)0 -
I just assumed it would be better if I had them professionally scanned - but I'll give it a try thanks.0

I would be rather worried sending sentimental things like that through the post in case it got lost or damaged - you would be best to persevere and do them at home - it might take a while one page at a timer, but you'll get into a rhythm and it'll cost you nothing but time.0

In terms of image quality it's unlikely there'll be any significant difference between a home scanner and a professional service for what you want to do. By all means send it away if you prefer, but you'll be paying more for convenience than for a better quality product.0
