BA Strikes - UPDATE 28/3 BA CREW VOTE IN FAVOUR OF FRESH STRIKES

A new ballot of cabin crew at British Airways, for industrial action in their ongoing dispute with the airline, will be held next month.
The ballot will open on 1 March and close on 28 March, with the decision to be announced soon afterwards.
It will be the fourth ballot among BA cabin crew in the past two years.
The row began about cost cutting but now centres on travel concessions taken from striking staff and disciplinary action against Unite union members.
BA workers voted last month for further stoppages, but the Unite union said earlier this month it would hold a new vote after a "legal blitz" by the airline.
The airline had argued that the last ballot was unlawful.

Therefore based on the timeframe I mentioned in an earlier post, you can probably expect as follows:
+ 0 DAYS - UNION ANNOUNCE NEW BALLOT DATES
+ 7 DAYS - START BALLOT
+ 30 DAYS - END BALLOT, AND, IF IN UNION'S FAVOUR TO STRIKE,
+ 7 DAYS - EARLIEST STRIKE DATE THAT CAN BE CALLED
+ 21 DAYS - LATEST STRIKE DATE THAT CAN BE CALLED
The ballot is to run from the 1st - 28th March and therefore, should the vote be in favour of further strikes, the earliest possible strike date would be the 4th April. However, they don't have to call a strike date until, latest, 3 weeks after the ballot, that strike date being within 28 days of the ballot result (they have to give a minimum 7 days notice of strike action and strike action must take place within 28 days of the ballot result).
Therefore, in the above scenario, they could call for a strike to take place on any day(s) up to around the 25th April (Easter Monday).
However, provided action(s) takes place within the 28 days after the ballot, they can also continue thereafter without the need for a further ballot.
Please note that all of the above is my understanding of the situation and only an approximation on dates. The actual dates would depend on specific union actions.

It's just been announced that BA cabin crew have, as expected, voted in favour of fresh strikes. There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...0

Still a pointless act - I'm failing to understand what they are trying to achieve with this action other than attract negative publicity. Strikes have already been broken.Legal team on standby0

It won't have much impact - if any. There are plenty of contingency plans. "Talks" are still ongoing. No dates published yet. More details later in the week. I'll try to update as and when I know more.Call me what you like, I was a bit "tiddly" when I chose my username

British Airways are currently advising as follows:
Unite, the trade union for British Airways cabin crew, has announced that its strike ballot has closed in favour of strike action.
Unite has not set any dates for the proposed strike action and we remain in talks with them.
If a strike does take place, we have strong contingency plans in place. We will:- Operate a normal schedule at London Gatwick and London City
- Aim to fly 100 per cent of our longhaul flights to and from London Heathrow
- Aim to fly the majority of our shorthaul flights to and from London Heathrow
Unite must give seven days’ notice of any proposed strike action. There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...0
