hi there!
Just wondered if anyone could recommend a restaurant for me and my wife to go to for her birthday.
We live in the newtownabbey area but drive so belfast, carrickfergus etc wouldn't be a problem.
She doesn't like chinese or indian but does like steaks etc.
Thanks!

PaPa Browns in Carrick is hard to beat, although it may not be "special" enough for her birthday - more of a diner than a place for a long, leisurely meal.0

Hi ...
for Carrick there is a wee place called sozos, cafe by day, bistro style at night, http://lookaly.com/p/sozo-carrickfergus/ really nice food, reasonable price, from what i recall its only open Friday and Saturday nights, food was delicious, we have been twice, loved it, friends go on a regular basis and rave about it
whiteabbey - Bureau Bar - food very nice, e.g. great rump steak, pricey but delicous, tobacco onions, chunky chips etc, always nioce fish dish too as well as wider selection
Belfast - made in Belfast, quirky decor, yummy food, pricey at night but less so for lunch

For great food at a good price you cant beat Cutters Wharf Restaurant in Stranmillis.0

Think about Made in Belfast - it's a bit quirky and different, but lovely food. Need to book though0

If your wife likes steak you will find the square on Dublin Road hard to beat or the restaurant in the Radisson at the bottom of the ormeau Road, both quite expensive but great steaks!!0

For steak then Argentinian is a must.
La Boca on Fountain Street, Belfast - authentic little argentinian restaurant with a charming and pleasant atmosphere.0 -
Made In Belfast is lovely but I'd also recommend Sozo in Carrick (up the side of Bell's newsagents)
It only has about half a dozen tables in it, the food is great and loads of it, and best of all, it's bring your own!0 -
I'm in Crrickfergus and can recommend Sozo for food in the evening, nice wee bistro cafe by night and BYO (only open lates at weekend)
I avoid Bureau like the plague, waiters are rubbish and every-flippin-thing is covered, and i mean covered in tobacco onions.
in Belfast, agree with La Boca (behind Boots) and The Square on Dublin Rd (although a wee bit expensive - £20-25 per steak) and a wee mention of a small place up the Ormeau rd called Graffitti. Steaks are massive.
