  • surely it isn't argos' fault that they have been sent the wrong cameras since it is hitachi that has sent them out. sometimes it takes a customer noticing these things before mistakes like that get spotted, and then it has to be communicated to the right department and they have to tell all the stores etc so can take a little while for it to be properly rectified.

Unfortunately Argos should know what they are selling - it's a legal requirement by trading standards that they correctly advertise their stock as so not to mislead the buyer.
Saying that, none of us complained when they where selling off the samsung 6mb (or was it 7mb?!!) last xmas for for the price of the much cheaper 5mb one:D

When I have enquired at some Argos's over the years (that's more than store), they say that they quality control the items they sell .

They informed me that they open some of the stock to check that the items are whats in the box. This is not done localy in the branches.

So whats happen here I wonder?

Help please. I've just reserved a Hitachi 6mp camera from Argos, due to pick it up on Monday. I got an email this morning from Argos saying special offers, digital cameras half price. This one was £199.99, now £99.99. It just says Hitachi Slim 6mp digital camera. Is it like the one above, or a different model? Is it any good? It's a Christmas present for my daughter. If it's rubbish I won't bother.

I recently bought a Digital camera from Argos. When I collected it the employee said '' Argos recommends the use of rechargeable batteries with digital cameras'' like she was reading from the screen.
Probably to cover themselves when people take them back.

no, more likely so you can buy them as it adds sales on to their add on sales!

yeah i did this haha sold it on ebay like a complete bas***d i am!

when i did a course on trading law with argos apparently there are several different people that make sure whats being advertised is whats being sold!

So apart from the calls in the workshop i attended for these people to be sacked apparently 99%of the time its the manufacturers messing up!

The Hitachi camera I reserved, but didn't pick up, has a rechargeable lithium battery. The problems mentioned above seem to relate to short battery life, but I assume they are AA batteries? I'm still mulling over whether or not to go for this, the price is very good for a camera with a lithium battery. I would have to pay at least another £20-£30 for the next cheapest.

Hmmmm..... That extra £20 or £30 doesn't only buy you a battery.
