Clothing Alterations

Hi All,
I'm wondering if you can help me.
Due to my petite size, most of the trousers I buy need to have their hems shortened.
Unfortunately the cheapest I can get them altered is at a minimum of £5.00 per pair!
Not quite nice if you think that when ever I look at trousers I have to add at least £5.00 to the price! Rather expensive!
I am hopeless at sewing, I would have done it myself!
I live in the Ealing, London, W5. If anyone can give me any suggestions, or if you know of a shop or a private individual who do these alterations at a cheaper price, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks
Helen

Betterware do a powder that you just sprinkle on and iron, I use this to take my sons school trousers up and to put his scout badges on with. It's really easy to use and I think it costs about £5 a tub which goes for miles. If it stands up to the rough treatment that my son puts his clothes through it will stand up to anything.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
