Debt from Ireland

Options
I held a credit card when I lived in Ireland.

While I was back in the UK and making payments, I got in touch to tell them that I was having issues with it and they cancelled the card and the balance froze.

I got a tax rebate from the Irish government of €4k which I paid toward the card, about 50%.

I then got notification from the tax office that the rebate was in error and I had to pay that back so I got in touch with the credit card and agreed a payment of €5 per month for 6 months, which I made.

I received a letter to phone the credit card company but when I phoned they said that that person does not work 9 to 5 and took my number to call back. They did not call back.

I now have Global Debt Recovery, a UK company, phoning me about the debt.

Can this debt be followed up in the UK by Global Debt Recovery, given that the debt was not run up in Ireland?

Furthermore, given that my paying off 50% at once would have seen me make minimum payments until now if I had spread it out can they enforce a judgement against me?

I am more or less resolved to being a bad debt in Ireland but would not like for it to follow me to the UK.
