veggie stock? also when you add lentils to the slowcooker do you need to soak them first? the recipe calls for green lentils do i just add them out of a packet. im making a lentil and tomato soup

I use veggie stock cubes melted in water. You buy them from all supermarkets.

Lentils do not need soaking, just boil rapidly for 10 minutes, then bung them in (this is what the packet says... to be honest I just throw them in)

Try Marigold Bouillon which comes in powder form and reconstitutes to stock - very nice.
