Unauthorized credit search by Lowell Portfolio 1 Ltd

Hello,
I have just checked my Experian credit report and have discovered that an Unrecorded Enquiry [search] was made by Lowell Portfolio 1 Ltd very recently. Lowell seem to be a debt collection agency and as I have defaulted loans it wouldn't surprise me if one of my original creditors has sold on the debt. However, I haven't given permission for anyone to search my credit report. Have Lowell committed an offence by searching my credit report without my permission or are they allowed to do this?

If they've bought a debt of yours, then I guess it's reasonable to check your credit record.
Do you disagree?0 -
From their perspective it may be reasonable. However, this is not my question. I am just interested in whether or not they are allowed to search my credit report when I have not given my consent.0

I would imagine it will all come down to the T&C's of the original contract, it probably has bits and pieces about they will pass on the debt to their collectors, who will do this that and the other.
End of the day, so what if they checked it, if you have defaulted, then it's surely the very least of your problems.0 -
They are allowed the same rights as the origional creditor , if bought0

Did any of your creditors give you permission not to continue repaying the money you borrowed?
Sorry dude but a measly search on your credit file is completely irrelevant to the damage you have already done to it.0 -

You have misspelt almost all your words. Could you put your post into a form of English that we can understand so that we can help?I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -
